To better characterise the drinking water quality, particularly the regulatory compliance, the water monitoring data is statistically analysed for various indicators. These indicators may reveal how stable the water quality is over a monitoring period, usually a year (the monitoring period is in DK not a year as samples are taken every 3 to 5 years in wells and for sampler waterworks also quite seldom in drinking water). They are sometimes applied to monitor raw water quality, but the primary focus is to ensure the stability of treated drinking water quality at the waterworks system.
